Having grown up in a family of artists, it seems Erin’s path was fated. Her passion for the arts began in her father’s design studio which also served as her nursery. Her father claims, since the time she could crawl, she would sit under his drafting table carefully turning the pages of his expensive art books. She never creased or tore or dirtied a page nor did she ever disturb any of his drawings he would sometimes place on the floor while working on another. For years she was his steady companion often tagging along with him to the theatre. Sometimes it was the scene shop, where she would sit safely out of the way with her own tools and scraps of lumber to build with. At other times she would watch quietly as her father directed a play or coached students in his acting classes. One of her favorite things to do was to play “make believe,” all alone, on the finished sets that graced the stage.
Her magical childhood extended beyond the excitement of the Theatre. She grew up hiking and fishing in the mountains of Colorado; horseback riding on the windy plains and dunes of Wyoming. She studied ballet and soon excelled in dance becoming the youngest company member of Austin Ballet Theatre. Throughout it all she drew and painted everything she saw or could imagine. A rogue “tall girl” gene and an unfortunate injury, a couple of changes in majors, and she has come full circle. The one thing that came most naturally was waiting in the wings, always ready.
